The Wild Kaimanawa Field Guide
Kaimanawa Legacy Foundation is excited to launch the second edition of The Wild Kaimanawa Field Guide, designed to help the public identify and get to know our nation’s heritage horses at an individual level.
This 154 page guide is a celebration of the wild Kaimanawa herd, allowing an unprecedented insight into the secret lives of our nation’s most iconic herd.
2024 EDITION INCLUDES
* 406 Profiles of Kaimanawa horses currently roaming wild (up from 352 in the 2023 Edition), which includes a photo and bio of each horse, as well as their lineage and age if known.
* Updates about the zones the horses live in Tributes and profiles of mustered Kaimanawa horses.
* Facts about the herd, including information and statistics that has been documented in the online Wild Kaimanawa Database.
* More information about the dynamics of the herd, including the social structure of the bands.
The 2023 Edition of The Wild Kaimanawa Field Guide delighted equestrian lovers in New Zealand and internationally, and the 2024 Edition is even bigger and better!
It is our greatest wish that this publication allows the public to connect with the horses at an individual level — because in order for people to protect something, they first need to know that it exists and to feel personally invested in its plight.
A perfect gift for anyone that loves Kaimanawa horses, to help showcase the Kaimanawa horses in the lead up to the 2025 Muster.
100% of proceeds go towards supporting wild Kaimanawa horses on and off the range.
