Events
Each year, the Kaimanawa Legacy Foundation is proud to host innovative programs and events to celebrate our nation’s treasured heritage horses.
These initiatives not only help ensure the successful placement of wild Kaimanawa horses during the musters, but also showcase their remarkable value and trainability.
Partnering with Equifest, we offer dynamic training events such as the Kaimanawa Legacy Stallion Challenge, Kaimanawa Legacy Wild to Willing, and Kaimanawa Legacy Juniors & Juveniles competitions. These exciting challenges not only boost rehoming rates but also demonstrate to the public just how adaptable and trainable these wild horses can be.
The Kaimanawa Legacy Championships, which are being hosted in January, also provide a unique opportunity for owners, trainers, and riders to display the extraordinary bonds they’ve formed with their Kaimanawa horses. With horses competing across five disciplines in both in-hand and ridden classes, this event highlights the exceptional versatility of the breed.
In conjunction with the Championship competition we’re thrilled to host the Kaimanawa Legacy Kamp, aimed at fostering a new generation of skilled trainers to support the future needs of Kaimanawa horses.
None of this would be possible without the passion and dedication of the KLF team, volunteers, the Kaimanawa Wild Horse Advisory Group (KWHAG), talented trainers, and our generous sponsors. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone involved in making these events a resounding success!
